The credit is the main currency in Android: Netrunner. Players need credits to do just about anything in the game, including playing and installing cards, paying to use card abilities, engaging in traces, etc. Credit values are almost always represented by the symbol 
.
Both the Corporation and the Runner can gain 1 as an action during the Action Phase on his/her respective turn.
